Ever since chinos crossed over from military uniforms into civilian life in the 1940s and ’50s, they’ve been a foundational wardrobe item. Inspired by the utilitarian originals, we’ve spent years refining our chinos to be a cut above—and worth keeping for the next generation.

In nearly every one of our vintage catalogs, you’ll find chinos—on the coast, at the office, on vacation and beyond. Look closely, and you’ll notice that their essential elements have hardly changed. That’s because our chino building blocks have been the same since 1983: durable fabrics like 100 percent cotton twill that look even better with wear, comfortable fits and (nearly) invisible details that signify quality.
Color theory
Every chino has its place, and these colors will evolve depending on how you wear and care for them. Keep a navy pair crisp and ready for the office, make khaki the one you beat up on the weekend, or pass down a well-loved olive pair to your kids (if you can bear to part with them).
